Q: What do you mean by On Call?

Coverage after hours, weekend and out of office emergency/urgency.

Q: How much is it to be a part of the Advantage On Call System?

Nothing, in fact Advantage pays you to take call.

Q: How often do I have to take call?

4-5 times per year, in one-week increments (Monday-Sunday).

Q: How much do I get paid to take call?

It averages out to about $1,500, although the amount can vary depending on whether your call week falls on a holiday and other factors. For more specific detail, please request the latest copy of our On Call policy.

Q: What if I see an OHP patient? How will I be paid?

You will be paid up to $150 per OHP claim.

Q: What kind of patients will I see when I'm On Call?

You will see all patients of record. This could mean commercial insurance patients, fee-for-service patients and OHP patients. For fee-for-service patients, you are allowed to charge your emergency fee, a $75 after-hours fee and the fee for the services you preformed. You charge for treatment you would normally charge your patients, but not if you normally would not charge your patients.

Q: What are the benefits of being a part of the Advantage On Call System?

As a participating dentist of the Advantage On Call System, you get to use the On Call service at no charge. In addition, Advantage has strict triage protocols with highly trained staff answering the phones, so it's less likely that you will actually be called into the office. It also allows you to get away from the phone when you need to and cover it if you wish.

Note: on call procedures vary depending on the region in which you are participating. For more detail, please request the latest on call policy for the area in which you would be taking call for.
