Dental Implants

Why you Should Consider Dental Implants

Despite the improvement of access to dental care and technology, millions of people lose teeth every year due to tooth decay, periodontal disease or injury. Dental implants can be the right choice for adults of all ages, whether were born without a tooth of have lost a tooth due to injury, infection or decay. They can also be an option for teens, once facial growth and development has completed, typically around 16 years old for girls and 18 years old for boys.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are essentially the replacement of your tooth’s roots. They provide a fixed foundation for replacement teeth. Dentist will match the color of your replacement teeth with the color of your natural teeth to look and feel as real as possible. They are extremely comfortable and can be brushed, flossed and cared for like natural teeth.

How Long do Dental Implants Last?

With proper care and oral hygiene, dental implants can last a lifetime. Visit your dentist for regular check-ins so that they can confirm the health of the implant.

Does Getting a Dental Implant Hurt?

Most people say there is very little discomfort in the procedure and it involves less pain than a tooth extraction. Local anesthesia is used during the procedure to eliminate any pain while in the office. After the procedure, when the local anesthesia wares off, mild soreness is common but can be treated with over-the-counter pain medications such as Tylenol or ibuprofen.
