Restorative Dentistry

Our dentists use restorative dentistry to help keep the mouth healthy and functional. The goal of restorative dentistry is to preserve natural teeth as much as possible. This can be done through implants, fillings, crowns, bridges, inlays/onlays, and full and partial dentures.

Restorative dentistry does not just fix a decayed tooth but the surrounding ones as well. If there is a missing tooth this can cause the other teeth to shift, becoming more susceptible to decay. It is Advantage Dental's priority to create optimal oral health for each patient, restoring and enhancing the mouth, teeth and gums to eradicate or prevent oral diseases.

Dental Crowns

A dental crown is typically used to strengthen a tooth that has been cracked, weakened or misshapen. In these circumstances, it is important to have a crown placed on the affected tooth because it is an extra method of protection from a complete break in the tooth, a painful dental emergency.

Dental Implants

If your dentist recommends extracting a tooth, or if a tooth has fallen out or been knocked out, a dental implant might be the best treatment option. Dental implants, in essence, take the place of an original tooth and its roots. Your dentist will insert a foundation for the replacement tooth, which acts as the root, and fit you for the replacement tooth itself. The implanted tooth can be matched in color to the rest of your existing teeth and be shaped to both look and feel like a natural tooth.

Dental Bridges

An alternative to a dental implant, a dental bridge can be either permanently cemented in your mouth or removeable. Similar to other treatment options, dental bridges can help stabilize your bite and jaw position as well as provide comfort when chewing.

During a permanent or fixed bridge placement, your dentist will cement the bridge to your natural teeth on either side of the open space, whereas during a removable bridge placement, also known as a partial denture fitting and placement, your dentist will mount false teeth in the removeable bridge mold.

Dentures Fitting and Placement

There are a variety of different denture options. The role of dentures is to replace lost, missing or extracted teeth with artificial teeth and gums. Dentures are fitted and placed inside the mouth, which supports the structure of the mouth, makes chewing food easier, assists in speech and more.

The different types of dentures include complete dentures, implant-supported dentures, partial dentures and immediate dentures. Consult your dentist on what type of dentures is best for you.

Tooth Bonding

Dental bonding can be used for multiple reasons, ranging from correcting a chipped tooth or protecting an exposed tooth root to changing the shape of a tooth or making a tooth longer. Discuss dental bonding with your dentist if you are considering a restorative oral health treatment plan. Additionally, not only is tooth bonding a restorative treatment option, but also a cosmetic treatment option.
